Discover what coliving is

Nowadays, digital nomads continue to challenge traditional conventions of work and lifestyle. With the advancement of technology and the growing acceptance of remote work, more and more people are opting for a nomadic approach, combining the freedom to travel with the ability to maintain successful professional careers. From programmers and designers to writers and consultants, digital nomads represent a diverse and global community seeking flexibility, adventure, and connection with new cultures while pursuing their passions and professional ambitions.

What is coliving?

Coliving is a way of life where you not only share a space but also create a community with the people you live with. In this community, experiences and hobbies are shared, so the social aspect plays a key role.

The phenomenon of coliving arose to address the needs of many young people moving to Silicon Valley to work in tech companies. Once they arrived in San Francisco, they had to deal with the problem of the scarcity of rental housing.

Faced with this issue, buildings began to emerge where young people lived and shared common spaces. Over time, they not only cohabited but also began to create synergies due to similar lifestyles or personal preferences. In this way, they went from being flatmates to forming a community, a fundamental element in coliving.

Who lives in coliving spaces?

There are many types of people who choose to live in coliving spaces. Some of the most common profiles include:

  • Digital nomads: Those who work remotely and, therefore, can do so from anywhere in the world. Being constantly on the move, coliving is an ideal option for staying for a while in a city.
  • International students: People who study for long periods of time in other cities. Coliving provides them with a more complete experience to create community and get to know the new city.
  • Professionals who travel: Many professionals need to travel for work. Coliving is a beneficial option for both them and their companies. It allows the worker to share leisure space with the community and saves the company paperwork and time.
  • Travelers: Those travelers who spend long periods of time in a city to immerse themselves in the local culture. Thanks to coliving, they can discover the city in a community and participate in the activities organized.
