Coliving is a way of life where you not only share a space but also create a community with the people you live with. In this community, experiences and hobbies are shared, so the social aspect plays a key role.
The phenomenon of coliving arose to address the needs of many young people moving to Silicon Valley to work in tech companies. Once they arrived in San Francisco, they had to deal with the problem of the scarcity of rental housing.
Faced with this issue, buildings began to emerge where young people lived and shared common spaces. Over time, they not only cohabited but also began to create synergies due to similar lifestyles or personal preferences. In this way, they went from being flatmates to forming a community, a fundamental element in coliving.
There are many types of people who choose to live in coliving spaces. Some of the most common profiles include:
At Viu, we have a sustainable coliving and coworking space in the heart of Barcelona. Our building is designed for people to live and work in the same space and do so in community.
At the top of the building, you'll find the coliving area. Here we have several fully equipped apartments ready to move in. At the bottom, you'll find our coworking spaces, where you can work alongside other professionals and create synergies with them.
We also have several meeting rooms and common spaces, including our rooftop with views of the Sagrada Familia.
